I've come here after an HOUR of problems today, only to discover that the culprit was Gladinet Desktop.
Using online banking this morning, there was a problem with my keyboard and as I alt-tabbed between applications I discovered this "mystery process" that I could not switch to.
The other people commenting on this thread are very fortunate that they are not running with the "Windows Classic" look under Windows 7 64bit, because if they are, you don't get to see the "Gladinet Desktop" strapline. In fact, all you see is the icon, without title, that you cannot switch to.
I only found out it was Gladinet by accident, by switching to the Windows 7 Skin, where Alt+Tab shows more information and you can switch to the applications shown using your mouse. When I did so, clicking on "Gladinet Desktop" switches me to a big invisible window, without functionality, on my desktop.
My solution is to disable the Gladinet Desktop AutoStartup item using MSCONFIG, then start up Gladinet Desktop manually.
For the last hour I've been anxious that my security has been compromised in some way.
Gladinet need to get on top of this ASAP. Not titling the application in any way is poor practice in my opinion.

Alt+Tab ⇆ is the common name for a keyboard shortcut that has been in Microsoft Windows since Windows 3.0. This shortcut switches between top-level windows without using the mouse; hence it was named Task Switcher (Flip in Windows Vista). Perhaps the most common use of Alt+Tab ⇆ is to alternate between the two most recent tasks, but it can also be used to switch to any running program that has a top-level window. The window environment maintains a Z-order list of top-level windows (tasks) with the most recently used tasks at the front, so the most recently used tasks can be switched to the most quickly. The Alt+Tab ⇆ keyboard combination has also been incorporated in other operating systems and desktop environments such as Mac OS X (as ⌘ Cmd+Tab ⇆), KDE, and GNOME.

With *ALL* due respect, I'm not sharing it for entertainment!
It needs attention ASAP.
If your application is making me think that my security has been breached because the developers are using untitled, "phantom windows" within the application that is an absolutely bloody appalling state of affairs.
When is someone going to get on top of this?
The flakiness of the forced updates is tedious; losing an hour on a wild goose chase is completely unacceptable.
I'm back because after rebooting, despite disabling the service and removing the startup entry, the window still appears until I log out and then back in again.
[shakes head]
